Presentation

Critical edition based on various sources. Introduction and critical apparatus in Italian and English.

In a group of compositions of the enormous patrimony by Vivaldi of instrumental music which has come down to us in manuscripts, the Red Priest assigns to the archlute, theorbo and mandolin a role of absolute protagonists: two trios for violins, “leuto” and basso continuo, a concerto in D Major for two violins, “leuto” and basso continuo, another in d minor for viola d’amore and “leuto”, a concerto for eleven instruments and string orchestra in which two theorbos and two mandolins also have a concertante part, a mandolin concerto, and at last a double concerto for two mandolins.
